The Morecambe bay tide is large and is exceeded in only a few places in the world, It can alter by 10m in the bay itself and it can race up the Kent estuary making it dangerous for people walking on the sands. To alert them there is a siren in Arnside that warns of the fast incoming tide. This painting is of the yellow sands that are left behind when the tide is out.
